The Elia group includes two major transmission system operators (GST) in two European regions: Elia Transmission in Belgium and 50Hertz Transmission, one of the four German operators in north-eastern Germany.
Both operators operate at the heart of the European electricity system as they provide vital connections between the various electricity producers and their 30 million end-users. The Group's high-voltage network, with its 18,600 km intertwined network, transports electricity generated by producers to distribution system operators and to the main industrial consumers.
In addition to the management of transmission systems in Belgium and Germany, the Elia Group offers a wide range of high-quality consulting and engineering services on the international energy market through its owned subsidiary Elia Grid International (EGI). EGI develops energy systems projects for third parties and analyzes opportunities for investment opportunities in foreign electricity systems.
The Elia Group operates under the legal entity Elia System Operator, a company listed on the Brussels Euronext stock exchange since 2005.
